Refurbishment of an apartment.
An apartment immersed in a park, in a residential and hilly area, which has the advantage of being an integral part of a quality building from an architectural point of view; this is the context that gives a positive feeling to those who cross the Liberty style entrance gate, which once led to the original building.
Architectural quality is immediately noticeable by observing concrete facades with soft shade.
Inside the apartment distribution appears logical and well proportioned, but it is evident that there is a need to bring some spatial corrections and reorganize the environments.
Entering into the apartment I immediately felt the need to make some changes, mainly at the entrance which is slightly overwhelming due to a front wall and lack of lighting.
The first step is to simplify the paths, make them more linear, and use an existing background window as a light source that brings light to the new corridor.
The result is a new prospective space that runs along the longitudinal axis of the apartment giving order and light.
I also like to simplify and remove any kind of superfluous or trivial presence to the point that I backward the entrance of the rooms so that the view on the doors disappears and remains only a playful sequence of empty and full.
By doing this small surgical operation, and I say this because the changes are few and not substantial, I get more calibrated and rational spaces and recover a large surface at the entrance, which allows me to gain more transparency and allows to create an island with a dual function of storage and exposure.
The final effect should create a sense of tranquility that comes from the linear course of the architectural spaces.
Finishing materials must also help to create reassuring feelings of warmth and familiarity, so most of the floors are in wood and the furnishings will be part of it, then everything will have to be matched with the raw iron and Corian, in a game of calibrated colors and changing shades.
